Can someone please help me?
I am being blocked from sending to Estonia 36 skin samples taken
from five specimens of Scorpaeniform fishes in the University of
Alberta Zoology MUseum. How do you go about bypassing the stupid
antiterrorist shipping regulations of alcohol specimens to Estonia?
The 36 skin samples are wrapped in muslim (cheesecloth) and dipped in
ethanol to moisten the cheesecloth and then packed in a watertight
screwtop vial. Each set of vials were then placed in a waterproof
plastic bag and sealed. Then the bag was placed in a second watertight
plastic bag and sealed. then all five sets of bags were placed in a
waterproof plastic bag and sealed. Then the bag was placed in a
watertight styrofoam shipping container. There was less than 1 ml of
ethanol in the entire container. There was less ethanol in the
container than in a box of chocolates. However, according to the
University of Alberta shipper, the ethanol is considered a "DANGEROUS
GOODS" and cannot be shipped.
Can someone point me to an exemption for museums shipping
alcohol specimens in the international shipping regulations? Thank
you for your attention to this matter.
John
