Hi,

I've successfully applied Visible Implant Elastomer tag on white seabream juveniles (5cm TL). You can find lots of information on http://www.nmt-inc.com/products/vie/vie.htm

VIE tag are very easy to see (even underwater by visual census) but it can be lost over few months as the fish grows or change body colour pattern.

Another, but more expensive, tagging method is the PIT tag, suitable for very small fish but you need to provide fishermen the electronic device to detect PIT inside recaptured fishes and to assess the ID code.

Good luck,

I am looking for a tag to use to mark juvenile fish (in the 1-2" range). I
would like to mark these fish with an externally visible tag so that when
they are caught in a commercial fishery the tag is visible to the harvesters
and they can be returned to us. Can anyone recommend a useful tag for this
purpose?

Thank you
Jacob
