On behalf of Yan Jiao, please see below for a vacancy for a MS assistantship:

Position or Title: M.S. Assistantship in Fisheries Population Dynamics

Agency/State: Department of Fish and Wildlife Conservation, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA

Responsibilities: Conduct population dynamics and stock assessment modeling in fisheries.  Duties will include conducting spatial dynamics modeling, coordinating with other investigators, preparing reports and presentations for scientific audiences, and submitting manuscripts based on his/her work to peer-reviewed journals. Expected starting date:  Spring Semester 2014.

Qualifications: Applicants must have a B.S. in fisheries, ecology, statistics, or related field.  The most qualified applicant will have a strong quantitative background, and a strong interest in population dynamics. A proven publication record, knowledge of R, MATLAB and/or other computing languages will be assets for appropriate candidates.

Salary: The Assistantship covers tuition ($11,000-$12,000) and a competitive stipend ($20,000-$23,000).  Position is grant-funded for a period of one year and is renewable yearly based on the availability of funding and satisfactory performance.
