Thanks Chris. And all these stellars junior fish people please come to Berlin. The city rocks and the science is overall not too bad either. Please let me know if you are interested in putting in a proposal to come to Germany with a fisheries hat. See www.igb-berlin.de and www.besatz-fisch.de for more details of what we do in Berlin.

Folks
This isn't directly fishy, but is an amazing opportunity for someone.
The Humboldt foundation (Germany) is offering (via the Sofja Kovalevskaja Award) funding (1.65 M Euros over 5 years) for exceptional early career stage scientists to build a group at suitable German research institution of your choice.

Chance like this are rare in life, so if you finished your doctorate in the last 6 years and are a proto-research star, go to http://www.humboldt-foundation.de/web/kovalevskaja-award.html for more details.

It'd be great to get a fishy person in at least one of the 8 available positions. Germany is a really great place to do research with a long list of excellent groups working on fish/aquatic sciences.

All the best
Chris
