My name is Taylor Spaulding, I'm a graduate student at California State
University- Fresno. My lab is looking to do experiments on groups of fish
ranging from 30 to 120 mm within a swim tunnel at velocities up to 45
cm/s. I have seen quite a few different styles of swim tunnel, from the
elaborate Stephenson types from Loligo and Qubit to more DIY -styles
involving Duct Piping and Fiberglass Test chamber. This project is
currently running on a very low budget, but we would like to fabricate or
buy the best possible swim tunnel, which would minimize handling and
outside stress.

Originally our experimental design involved cylindrical tanks, in which
water flowed in a circle. However, flow is not consistent at all
locations, and so that idea has been shelved for the time being. If anyone
on-list has any ideas of avenues we could pursue, I would be most
appreciative! Thank you very much!
