Fisheries Technician Positions
Two openings are available at the Prince William sound Science Center
in Cordova for fisheries technician positions. The positions are
available from May through August 30, 2015 and would require a time
commitment for the entire season. This project is investigating the
potential interactions between hatchery and wild pink and chum salmon
in the ocean environment in Prince William Sound. The major job
responsibilities will be to process salmon to collect morphometric
data and extract otoliths. This includes but is not limited to:
receiving salmon samples from the ocean test fishery vessel,
processing fish, data collection, and data entry/management. Also
includes some heavy lifting. The salmon work will be between 25-40
hours per week depending upon catch sizes and fish delivery times and
will require irregular hours and possibly weekend work. This is a
great opportunity for college undergraduates interested in fisheries
or wildlife biology. $17-$20/hr DOE. Applicant must be a U.S. or
Canadian citizen or have U.S. Permanent Residence status. Send a
cover letter and CV to Michele Buckhorn at [log in to unmask] Please
put “HWOS TECHNICIAN” in the subject line of the email. Applications
