Chris, you ask an important question.  Jim did a good job answering and I
have little to add except to mention that, as you know, purchasing
electrofishing equipment best suited to your sampling conditions is often
not a trivial undertaking.  For a good aid, see the "Buyer's Guide" on
electrofishing.net

(In addition, electrofishing.net is built to serve the electrofishing
community and is full of useful information and tools for purposes as
standardization).
