                     VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT FOR
        SUPERVISORY RESEARCH FISHERY BIOLOGIST, GS-0482-14
  With the National Marine Fisheries Service in Woods Hole, MA



ABOUT THIS POSITION:  The incumbent supervises and conducts
research to increase knowledge of the biology, population dynamics,
and distribution of marine mammals.  S/he prepares reports and
scientific papers for publication; makes presentations at
scientific meetings; conducts stock assessments and related
research; oversees the preparation and submission of research
proposals; evaluates operations and research programs; making
recommendations for improvement; and insures the effective
utilization of personnel, budget, and other resources.

BASIS OF RATING:  Competitors will be rated on the basis of the
extent and quality of experience and training relevant to the
duties of the position, based on information contained in their
applications.
