Happy holidays and please forgive the cross postings. I have seen
requests for ecological data from time to time and thought this would
interest some of you. Have a happy and healthy new year.

>DATA INDEX >NOAA's NESDIS led an effort to create and place on the
Internet an index to environmental data held by the Departments of
Agriculture, Commerce, Energy, Defense and Interior and NSF, NASA, EPA
and NOAA. The National Environmental Data Index will be used initially
for identifying environmental data holdings in the U.S. and ultimately,
internationally. The environmental data runs the gamut of biological
diversity, water resources and quality, solar activity, soil moisture,
weather events, volcanoes, earthquakes and more. The prototype index can
be accessed at: http://www.nedi.gov.(DC AMS Newsletter, Nov./Dec. 1996)
