I would appreciate any information you could provide regarding the
species indexes, say for the FAO.  I saw you message on the
FISH-ECOLOGy list.

My interest is that I have produced a lexicon of animal names in
various dialects of Chuukic, in the Eastern Caroline Islands,
Micronesia.  I have developed a species index, but mainly for purposes
of sorting into an order that is convenient for me (modified
phylogenetic).  A more standard way would be better.

But for one thing, the names I am getting are not usually assignable
to a specific species.  A name might refer to several species, or to
an undetermined species.
