There was a wide interest, in the FE community, on the Scientific
Software Map and the LinUX issues.  Thus, I will send in  to  the
whole of the conference the compiled material [4 messages, 75, 79
54  and 21 Kb, respectively].  FTP as well as the web sites where
to retrieve the software packages, manuals, etc.  are included in
the messages.

Feel  free  to  circulate the material to other colleagues not on
FISH-ECOLOGY.

Those of you attemting to  run  geostats and visual data analyses
should, definitely, have a look  on  -what  appears  to  be-  the
"flagships"   under  LinUX:  High  quality,  user  friendly,  GUI
packages just for free.  Such packages  would cost x^3 USD in the
commercial world.
