AUSTRALIAN MARITIME COLLEGE

-SENIOR LECTURER-  ACADEMIC  LEVEL  C  FACULTY  OF  FISHERIES AND
MARINE ENVIRONMENT

The Australian Maritime College is Australia's premier centre for
maritime education, training and research.  The College comprises
two main campuses which are situated  on  the  river  Tamar  near
Launceston in the north of Australia's island state of Tasmania.

The  Australian  Maritime  College  provides an ideal working and
learning environment.  The College attracts students from some 26
overseas countries  as  well  as  from  all  states in Australia.
Programmes offered by the College range from  vocationally  based
training to postgraduate studies at Masters and PhD levels.

This  vacancy  presents  an ideal opportunity to join the dynamic
team of people in the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Environment
at a senior level.  The  Faculty has an impressive involvement in
fisheries training, education, research and consultancy  both  in
Australia and overseas.

The  possession  of  a  PhD in a relevant discipline and previous
experience  in   fisheries   research/management  are  essential.
Applicants should also have proven expertise in one  or  more  of
the   following   fields:   fisheries   biology,  assessment  and
management, fisheries  economics,  fisheries  technology  or post
harvest seafood management.  Previous teaching experience in  the
higher education sector would be highly regarded.

The  responsibilities  of  the  position may include lecturing at
both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervision of senior
postgraduate research,  post  graduate  course  co-ordination and
broad administrative responsibilities including the management of
human, physical and financial resources.

The candidate will also conduct research in an appropriate field.
Opportunities for consulting activities may  also  exist  through
the College's commercial arm (AMC Search Ltd).

Appointment will be for three years.

The salary offered will be within the range of $52,726 to $60,797
per  annum.  The College offers a generous superannuation scheme.
Relocation expenses to Launceston are available.
