Dear Fish-folks,
Some days ago I had asked:

"Has anyone a good idea on how sampling data from active gears (beach seine,
trawls; as fish per haul, fish per m2 or per m3) may be directly compared
with data from passive gears (gill-nets, traps; fish per fleet per hour,
fish per hour)?"

I have got only two replies; in both a reference was mentioned:

1)Connolly, R. M. (1994) Comparison of fish catches from a bouyant pop
net and a beach seine in a shallow seagrass habitat. Marine Ecology
Progress Series (109): 305-309.

2)Van Den Avyle, M.J., et al. 1995. Comparison of six gears for sampling
reservoir fish populations. North American Journal of Fisheries
Management. 15:940-955.

Obviously, a definite solution cannot be given.
Thanks for your help
Thomas
