I don't know if you can do it any more or not, but a long time ago, we
blinded fish by injecting a small amount of 3% aqueous benzethonium
chloride into the eyeball with a syringe.  The eye turned opaque in about
30 minutes or so.  Have fun getting that through your animal care and use
committee!
