Whale sharks are very common on the horn of Africa off the coast of Somalia
in the Gulf of Aden/Indian Ocean during spring months. They move inshore to
near the surf line when heavy plankton bloom occur. Over a two year study
period I counted groups of 20 to over 100 animals on at least a dozen
occassions.
