To add to the list of fishes and plastics:
About ten years ago I was observing a school of small dolphin (C.
hippurus) well offshore in the northern Gulf of Mexico when I saw 1 fish
wearing a plastic six-pack band. Its position was similar to that
described for the sturgeon and shark. The fish had grown around the ring
to the point that it would be impossible to shed. I suspected that the
fish would not survive more than one year. The fish may have become
entangled while feeding near a floating raft of debris.
