Dear Dr. Dyer, I just started a research project on larval and juvenile fishes in the River Oder (Eastern-Germany/Poland). I sample the early life stages by Point Abundance Sampling by Electrofishing (modifications of the anode according to G. H. COPP, 1989, Aquaculture and Fisheries Management 20, 453-462) and I try to take into account the suggestions made by P. GARNER in his recent publication in the J. of Fish. Biol. (1997, Vol. 50, 95-106). Furthermore, I use socalled "Bongo-nets" (Push-nets with flow-meters) with a mesh size of 500 micrometer and a diameter of 60 cm. I also intend to sample the floodplains of the river, but unfortunately, there are only few of them left... This may be different on the Polish part of the river and I am just trying to establish a cooperation with Polish colleagues. At any rate, I am very much interested in staying in contact with you.
Good luck and best wishes
