One of the problems of dealing with 'Referees & Timely publication' of
scientific papers is that the number of papers has increased at a
greater rate than the number of potential referees.

Why is this? Just look back at the fish ecology archives! A few weeks
back we were discussing how to fatten up your resume so that you had
more publications to impress potential employers.

Don't write one comprehensive paper say the experts.... fatten your
resume by making it into two, four or eight!

The purpose of these publications is no longer the lofty goal of
"communication of scientific information to colleagues", but rather
(necessary) self promotion.

Is there a better way?
