Hello fishphiles--

As a new subscriber to the list, I would like to introduce myself and my
research interests. My name is Sean Lyman, and I'm a graduate student at
the Duke Marine Lab in North Carolina. I suppose my research interests
are best described as fisheries evolutionary biology, and my dissertation
topic, while still in its formative stage, will look at life history
plasticity and the effects thereon of fishing pressure, especially in the
context of marine reserves in the Carribean. I would ideally like to
build life history plasticity into fisheries models, though that may just
be an ideal. I'm excited about the project because not only does it have
pure application to life history theory but also real world application
to perhaps the design and efficacy of marine reserves.

I would welcome any discussion about this topic from any interesed
parties, and look forward to learning a lot from this list.

Best fishes,

Sean Lyman
