Dear Colleagues:

I am attempting to determine how often significant winter die-offs of alewife
have occurred in the Great Lakes since about 1960.  So far, I have found
references documenting significant winter die-offs at the following times:

     Lake Michigan:  1967, 1970
     Lake Ontario:   1977
     Lake Huron:     1965
     Lake Erie:      1967
     Lake Superior:    ?

If anyone can add some information to this list, I would be grateful.  Please
