The National Fish Health Laboratory, U.S. Geological Survey -
Biological Resources Division, Leetown Science Center in
Kearneysville, WV seeks a laboratory director. The incumbent is
responsible for the implementation, coordination, management and
administrative supervision of the laboratory's research; provides
scientific leadership and maintains liaison with potential
cooperators/clients/collaborators within USGS and other federal and
nonfederal agencies and entities interested in aquatic animal health;
establishes performance standards for principle investigators;
establishes priorities; reviews progress; approves budgets; monitors
expenditures and attends appropriate meetings, workshops and
conferences as necessary to disseminate research and development
results and identify new research and funding opportunities. Current
research includes both infectious (viral, bacterial and parasitic) and
noninfectious disease studies, immunological and histologic studies,
effects of contaminants on fish health and genetics of aquatic
