We have done both studies of pike migration up fishways and also
radio telemetry studies of pike. The radio telemetry studies we
did were in the 1970s and we implanted radio transmitters in the
body cavity. We have likely implanted more than 100 pike with
transmitters in various studies. Mortality was very low (<10%) and
some radios functioned for over a year. We have also recovered
many fish after weeks a months and the wound is completely
healed.
If you get in touch with me directly I can mail you some
information or fax you the methods sections of some of the
studies.
Cheers
Bill Mackay
