We are preparing a radiotracking study on the migration of pike (Esox
lucius) in a tributary of the Rhine in Alsace. The objectives of the study
are :
1.To assess the efficiency of a dozen newly built fish passes (pools with
vertical slots) for this species.
2.To gather information on the use of recently restored spawning sites.

Would anybody have some information on similar sudies on pike, for exemple
practical tips on capturing and handling the fish with the least amount of
stress, or methods to equip the fish with a transmitter (after talking with
a Belgian collegue Etienne Barras we are thinking of surgical insertion).
Data on migration of pike through fish passes would also be useful.

Many thanks
