There are many fisheries managers, aquaculturists, and researchers in the
Pacific Northwest of North America working with Acipenser transmontanus.  If you
could be more specific about your interests, I could direct your inquiry towards
someone who may be able to help you.  These workers have produce an abundance of
literature as a result of their efforts.

Our laboratory conducts research on the ecology and early life history of these
fish in the Columbia River.  We conduct a variety of field and laboratory
studies.  We investigate the timing and duration of spawning by white sturgeons
downstream from dams, conduct trawling annually to assess the relative abundance
of young of the year, use telemetry to determine habitat use and movements of
fish, and estimate the availability of habitat for different life stages by
using geographic information systems and a variety of hydraulic models.  We are
conducting laboratory studies to investigate the timing of the development of
white sturgeon embryos at different temperatures.  We are also looking at the
swimming performance of smaller white sturgeons and the effects of externally
attached transmitters on their performance.
