On last edition of Latin American Marine Sciences Congress, held in
Santos on September, we (L. M. Casarini, U. L. and me) suggested a probable
relationship between dredged material (for Port of Santos navigation
channel) pollution (rich on high concentrations of heavy metals) and
teratogenic effects to "Raja agassizi" population nearside Santos Bay
(anyone interested can order me electronic copies). The main morphological
effects were been noted on chondroskeleton, but also observed on fins and
liver. The impacts of port activities is now theme of a proposal study by
port authorities and oficial environment organismand involving several
institutions.

Happy new uear for all,
Cheers,
