I recently have been informed of a red colored Pimephales promelas (fathead
minnow) having been collected during some fisheries surveys. I was told by
someone that a bait dealer in Arkansas was selling these red phased fathead
minnows. According to my source, the dealer electroshocks the fish to produce
this coloration. Has anyone heard of this practice? Has anyone ever
collected these fish? Does anyone know of any literature (gray, internet,
journal, etc.) that might explain this in more detail? Thanks in advance.
