To all,

   Below are two vacancy announcements within the Fisheries Division of the
Arkansas Game and Fish Commission -- one for a reservoir biologist and
another for a stream biologist.  I am posting for colleagues in the agency.

RESERVOIR FISHERIES RESEARCH BIOLOGIST III - GRADE 21
Fisheries Management Division

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A formal education equivalent of a Bachelor's Degree in biology,
zoology, or related field, plus three years experience in fisheries
management or related field including one year in a leadership capacity.
Master Degree may be substituted for one year work experience.  Other
job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or
part of these basic requirements upon approval of the Qualifications
Review Committee.

JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:
Applicant will work under supervision and responsibilities will include:
coordination of a statewide reservoir fisheries research program;
assists District Fisheries Biologist with identification of reservoir
fisheries research and management needs; plans, organizes and implements
applied fisheries reservoir research throughout the state evaluating
management programs, management techniques and stocking programs; plans,
organizes and supervises special contractual studies as needed; prepares
budget requests and all necessary progress and final reports; reviews,
edits and approves all related program draft reports and manuscripts
submitted for publication; participates in special events, prepares news
releases, magazine articles, slide presentations, and interpretive
information for public understanding; and performs other duties as
deemed necessary.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, and SKILLS DESIRED:
Knowledge concerning current reservoir fisheries management theories and
sampling techniques; knowledge of principles and practices of
organizational management (supervisory abilities, budgetary processes,
and purchasing procedures); knowledge of game and fish laboratory and
field survey equipment, techniques, and procedures; ability to operate
and knowledge of computer programs; ability to establish and maintain an
effective working relationship with agency staff, interested
individuals, colleagues, personnel of other state and federal agencies
and the general public; ability to plan, prepare, and present oral and
written reports.

SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Physically demanding work is common, and applicant must be able to work
in inclement weather conditions.

COMPENSATION:  $25,054.00 to $46,428.00 (All Arkansas state employee
benefits are available).

JOB LOCATION:  Statewide with residence in Central Arkansas
