GRADUATE STUDENT ASSISTANTSHIP
ECOLOGICAL AND FISHERIES MODELING
A graduate student assistantship is available at The Coastal Fisheries
Institute (CFI) at Louisiana State University. Doctoral students are
preferred, but exceptional students who want to pursue a Masters degree
will be considered. Research topics should center on the application of
quantitative methods (mathematical and simulation modeling, time series
analysis, etc.) to better understand the dynamics of estuarine and marine
ecosystems. Research can be theoretical or management-oriented. Topics that
relate water quality, habitat, and/or plankton to fish population and
community dynamics are especially encouraged. Applicants should initially
send a letter detailing their research interests and curriculum vitae to:
Kenneth A. Rose, CFI, Wetland Resources Bldg., LSU, Baton Rouge, LA
70803-7503. For additional information, please contact Kenneth Rose at
(423) 574-4815 (before June 5, 1998) and at (504) 388-6346 (after June 5,
1998). The letter and curriculum vitae will be used to select qualified
applicants, who will then need to apply for admission to LSU. Starting
date can be as early as Fall 1998, although a Spring 1999 or later starting
date is more likely. LSU is an Affirmative Action, Equal Opportunity Employer.
