Dear Fish-Ecologists,
I'm compiling information on strategies for rehabilitation of small dune
lake systems, in particularly the removal of pest fish species (Gambusia
holbrooki) probably by using rotenone, but would like info on other methods.
Other challenges with this small (1 ha) perched dune lake are resealing of
the indurated layer which was breached (allowing most of the lake to dry
up), the removal of unnatural fine sediments, the revegetation of the lake
with aquatic macrophytes and maintenance of water quality during
rehabilitation work.
I'd really like to hear from anyone with experience and/or references in
this area. Please reply to [log in to unmask] and I will post a summary to
the list.
Thanks in advance,
- Mick
