Paideusis-JICS prepares volume 2 / 1999 with the general topic:
INVENTING PEACE. BETWEEN THE ROOTS AND THE FRUIT OF CONFLICT.
In this special issue we aim to examine the conditions which underpin
conflict and the processes of escalating confrontation. This issue can
be approached on a broad range of levels, addressing the question of the
motivation and dynamics of inner contradictions, as well as at the level
of outcome.
Conflicting factors, whether overtly declared (cultural conflict,
environmental challenges, economic contradiction, social struggle,
political confrontation... ) or recognizable only in their subtle
manifestation (in language, behavioural acts, arts etc.), whether in
modern or in traditional context, contradictions between traditional
roots and modern trends, require analysis particularly from
interdisciplinary and cross-cultural perspectives. Theoretical papers,
models, case studies, discussions are all welcome at the meeting place
Paideusis.
