Dina, This is a little off your question, but you might find it helpfull anyway. We made replicated mesocosms 60 cm diameter, 10 meters deep, for a series of experiemnts at Dal.
1996. Manuel J.L., Gallager S.M., Pearce C.M., Manning D.A., O'Dor R.K. Larvae from different populations of Sea scallop (Placopecten magellanicus) have different vertical migration patterns in 9-m deep mesocosms. Mar. Ecol. Prog. Ser. 142: 147-163
They were made of polyethylene, which can be purchased as contiuous tubing, and can be ordered to a specific size. 4 mil plstic is too thin and fragile, and with 8 mil plastic it is difficult to tie a knot in the bottom tight enough to make it water tight (but can be done by dipping it in hot water and then pulling it tight), so 6 mil works best.
These mesocosms are easy to make, cheap, disposable (so you don't have to worry about cleaning between experiments), and are remarkably firm if you fill them a few inches above water level to get positive pressure.
