1999 WORLD CONFERENCE ON NATURAL RESOURCE MODELLING
June 23-25, 1999 in Halifax, Canada
THE MEETING:
This multidisciplinary conference is sponsored by the Resource
Modeling Association to provide a forum for new developments in the
modelling and analysis of natural resource systems, particularly
involving ecological, economic and management aspects in forestry,
fisheries, wildlife, agriculture, ecosystem/biodiversity conservation &
multiple use resources.
LOCATION:
The conference will be held at Saint Mary's University, in Halifax, Nova
Scotia, an historic city dating back to the 1700s, and the major centre on
Canada's Atlantic coast. A wide variety of activities is available during
the conference for those accompanying conference participants.
PROGRAM:
Keynote speakers, paper and poster sessions, workshops, opening
reception (evening of June 22) and banquet. Optional post-conference
tours are planned for June 26 on coastal/fishery and inland/forestry
themes; information will be provided at a later date to those expressing
interest.

CALL FOR PAPERS:
Abstracts of 100-200 words are welcome, submitted by e-mail if
possible. Please note author's name and address, title of presentation,
and whether oral or poster presentation is preferred. Deadline: April 15,
1999.
REGISTRATION:
To register, send name, full contact information and payment to address
below or check the web site. Payment: (1) mail a cheque (made out to
"Saint Mary's University") in Canadian or U.S. dollars drawn on a
Canadian or U.S. institution, or (2) mail, fax or e-mail credit card
information, noting the total amount, whether Visa or Mastercard,
cardholder name, card number, and expiry date, plus your signature if
paying by mail or fax. Rates, in Canadian and U.S. dollars, including
lunches, opening reception and banquet (except at student rate):
RMA members...
- Before May 15: C$125 (US$80) / After May 15: C$150 (US$100)
Non-members...
- Before May 15: C$150 (US$100) / After May 15: C$175 (US$115)
Student Rate...
- C$50 (US$35) - students add C$40 (US$25) for banquet if desired.
Note: Membership in the Resource Modeling Association is US$55 per
year, including a subscription to Natural Resource Modeling. You can
join at time of registration to save on registration fees.
ACCOMMODATION:
Two blocks of rooms are reserved: (1) Lord Nelson Hotel (C$99 single or
double; central Halifax near sightseeing and restaurants, walk/shuttle to
conference; deadline May 22) and (2) the university residence, on the
conference site (C$27 single, C$42 twin, C$78 two-bedroom apartment).
Note: Prices do not include 15% tax. Details on how to make
reservations will be provided upon registration and/or abstract
submission.
